Shelter Psychologist

Sharkshini is a Psychologist (GMBPsS), with experience in supporting individuals with mental health and behavioural challenges. She has experience working with atypically developing children and adolescents, being actively involved in suicide prevention and advocacy, raising awareness about mental health, and working to bridge the language gap in mental health services in the context of Tamil speaking populations. She holds a BA in Psychology & Communication from Monash University, Australia and an MSc Psychology from the University of Derby, UK. She specialises in working with diverse populations (adolescents and adults), using trauma-informed approaches, to help them navigate emotional and psychological difficulties. At Emerge, Sharkshini is committed to empower adolescent girls in institutional care, by creating safe and non-judgemental spaces, to heal and grow through self-expression of their narratives.
