How Emerge Works: Our Global Partnership
Emerge's story began when a U.S. college student volunteered in Sri Lanka and witnessed the challenges faced by young survivors of sexual abuse. This led to the founding of Emerge Global in the United States, which today serves as our fundraising and strategic oversight hub with a dedicated global board.
To ensure effective, locally-led programming, we established Emerge Lanka Foundation in Sri Lanka in 2009. This sister organization manages and implements all our direct work with survivors, bringing deep cultural understanding and sustained community relationships to our mission.
Our Structure
Emerge Global (U.S.): A 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 26-3230131) in the United States that raises funds and provides strategic guidance
Emerge Lanka Foundation (Sri Lanka): A registered Voluntary Social Services / Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) (Registration Number L-196304) in Sri Lanka that implements programs and manages day-to-day operations
Both organizations maintain high standards of financial transparency, with Emerge Global's 990s publicly available and Emerge Lanka Foundation undergoing annual audits in Sri Lanka.
All Donations to both Emerge Global and Emerge Lanka Support Survivors
When you donate to either organization, you're supporting the same mission: empowering young survivors in Sri Lanka to heal, grow, and thrive.
